Kukicha means stem tea due to the fact that this Japanese green tea is traditionally made of the tea tree's stems (Kuki) and the leaf veins. It is made of 4 tea pickings. The first picking is an autumn selection of low leaves from 3 years old semi wild plants. The second is made of thick stalks picked once every ten years during winter. The last two are thin stalks picked each year in March and June. This is the famous grilled Kukucha! Superior to black stem grilled teas, it is very sought for its coffee nose, its refreshing sweetness and subtle hazelnut notes. Its level of theine is inferior to an ordinary tea (0.4% against 3%). Therefore, it is very soft for your stomach. It is very much appreciated for its relaxing qualities.

Bring fresh water to a boil, allow to cool slightly, thenpour over a bag as you steep 2-3 minutes. For iced tea, steep 2 tea bags, cool and pour over ice.
