Frankincense has long and deeply spiritual history. It has been used for quite literally thousands of years. In the West it is often best known as one the three gifts given to Jesus by the visiting Magi, or wise men.

Also known as Olibanum, Frankincense literally means fine incense (derived from the Old French word ‘Franc’ meaning high quality or fine, and the Old French word Encens). At Fushi we source Frankincense Oil organically at source, from the Boswellia tree resin. These trees are native in Somalia and flourish in tough arid conditions which is perhaps where Frankincense derives its warmth and potency.

Frankincense oil is used as an incense oil, and is naturally astringent. This, combined with its deep and pleasant aroma, means it can be used as a massage and bath oil, skin cleanser, and even as a household cleaner.

Frankincense to treat scars

Frankincense oil is used traditionally to reduce the appearance of scars, such as those from acne. Just mix two to three drops of frankincense with 30ml of a base oil like grapeseed or sweet almond, and rub into the skin. Never rub directly onto broken skin but applying on skin that is healing is totally fine.

Frankincense oil as a natural cleaner

30 drops of frankincense oil can be mixed with 100ml of water to make a natural light antiseptic spray to quickly clean down any surface. 3 parts water, ½ part white vinegar and 30 drops frankincense oil will give the cleaning properties more potency when a deeper clean is needed.

Frankincense for skin and massage

Ten drops of frankincense with a carrier oil like grapeseed or sweet almond oil can be applied before bedtime to help combat wrinkles and soothe the skin. Massage relaxes tension in the muscles, and they say frankincense solution eases the aches and pains when massaged into sore and stiff joints, and may even relieve symptoms of arthritis.

Relax, cleanse the body, mind, and soul with Frankincense Oil.

Baths: Blend 5-8 drops in a teaspoon of carrier oil, add to bath.

Massages: Add 2-3 drops of essential oils to 3 tablespoons of carrier oil.

Vaporisation: Add 2-4 drops of essential oils as well as a few tablespoons of water to your oil burner.
