Also known as the food of the Gods, these are delicately broken chunks of the cacao bean – the ingredient from which all chocolate is made.

We first heard about chocolate over 1,500 years ago in Central America where the Maya harvested cacao trees in the rainforest. They invented a drink made of the cacao beans called “Xocolatl”, where the name chocolate comes from.

Cacao beans were also used as currency by the Aztecs and were worth more than gold or silver at that time. Cacao nibs have an aromatic and slightly bitter taste - close to that of dark chocolate. We eat 10-20gr per day - it's a great pick me up - we add it to our muesli, eat it straight out the packet and use it to make a host of outrageous desserts.
