Scientifically known as the Adansonia digitata, the baobab tree grows on the hot and dry savannahs of the African continent and is widely cherished and known by the people of Africa as 'the tree of life'. Also named the 'upside down tree' for it's root like branches when bare of leaves, this life giving natural wonder can grow up to 30 metres in height, with trunk diameters of 11 metres.

Many parts of the tree are used including ground bark, leaves, fruit and seeds for whole foods consumption, food flavouring and medicinal products.
