It is now recognised that healthy gut bacteria are just as important to infants and toddlers as to adults and that the establishment of a robust population of friendly microflora as soon after birth as possible is critical in driving the development of a healthy immune and intestinal function. Maintenance of this beneficial bacteria during the early years of life is also important. This microflora is influenced during pregnancy, childbirth and breast-feeding, but modern living conditions, which are more sterile and bacteria free, may inhibit or slow down the natural development of the normal flora, particularly for young children.

This product has been developed specifically for infants from 12 months to 4 years of age. It contains the Lab4b group of four types of friendly bacteria, which naturally form part of the microflora population of infants. It also contains two types of prebiotic called GOS, which is found in high concentrations in breast milk, and FOS, which is found in fruits and vegetables. The Lab4b friendly bacteria were used in the Swansea Baby Study of over 400 babies carried out over five years.

As a food supplement using the scoop provided, add two heaped scoops per day (2g) to milk, juice, yoghurt or sprinkle onto cereal. Increase up to 4 heaped scoops to provide the level used in the Swansea Baby Study. This level will also provide twice the NRV level of all essential vitamins.
